Slavery is one form of gross violation of Human Rights, and much happened in the past, especially during the European colonization period which continued until World War II. But even forms of slavery still occur to this day in some countries which have become controversial even though at this time it is rare to see the practice of slavery. Certainly, the elements of slavery must be eradicated, because basically everyone has the same right to live regardless of their status. Aside from that, you can go to the Florida Keys Museum if you wish to learn more about the history of the slave trade.
For those of you who want to know how cruel the practice of slavery is, then you should watch these following 3 films, which relate how hard the struggle to be free from slavery:
1. Lincoln (2012)
Lincoln tells of the struggle of the 16th American President, Abraham Lincoln in the American Civil War that occurred in 1861-1865. Lincoln also called for the formation of emancipation, which abolished slavery in the United States. In the film set, in 1865, which predicted that the Civil War would soon end with the defeat of its opponent the Confederate States.
2. 12 Year A Slave (2013)
The Twelve Year A Slave has a story based on a memo from a slave, named Solomon Northup, where he was born free in the State of New York. But when in Washington D.C, he was kidnapped and sold to work as a plantation worker in Louisiana in 1841. The story of the memo was based on the true story of the memo writer from the beginning he was enslaved to his release 12 years later.
3. Freedom (2014)
Freedom gave the story of the rigors of the struggle in a slave, who escaped from the Monroe Plantation near Richmond, Virginia in 1856. Then he tried to run to Canada and had to survive from members of the slave-hunting gang, who would hunt them like dogs. The film starring Cuba Gooding Jr. this has been launched in Australia on 21 August 2014 and 5 April 2015 in the United States.
